Nigeria Immigration Service doubles passport fees

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has increased international passport fees effective September 1, 2025.

The 32-page passport with 5-year validity will now cost N100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity rises to N200,000.

The announcement, made on August 28, applies to both fresh applications and renewals.

According to NIS, the adjustment is to sustain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

The previous fees were N50,000 for the 32-page booklet and N100,000 for the 64-page booklet. No details were provided on diaspora pricing or premium processing adjustments.

The fee hike has stirred public debate, with critics pointing to rising living costs, while officials maintain it reflects increased production and maintenance expenses.
