Premier League: Manchester City will still decide their own fate

Despite coming back from a two-goal down, Manchester City is not looking like a team that will lose the Premier League title to quadruple-chasing Liverpool.

The noisy neighbours were on the brink of putting themselves in trouble when they were down by two goals courtesy of a brace by Premier League player of the year nominee, Jared Bowen.

After 45 minutes of action, Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp would have been praying for the scoreline to remain the same. His conviction would have been based on the fact that Manchester City have never come back from a losing position for almost ten years in a single game.

But Pep Guardiola’s men rose to the occasion, knowing fully well that it is the only trophy they can lift this season and they are not ready to relinquish that opportunity.

What must have done the magic in the second half that made 100 million pound signing, Jack Grealish to revive their hope?

The answer could be traced to the halftime team talk from Guardiola who is known to be an astute tactician. They came to light four minutes after the restart from Grealish.

Still victory for Hammers

Then West Ham, being the host succumbed to pressure from City conceding an own goal.

Notwithstanding, this is a victory for the Hammers that will be competing in the Europa Conference League next season. It is another opportunity to have a short at a title, if not any domestic one. One can’t write of David Moyes’ lad who got to the semi-final of the Europa League.

The hurdle in front of the City is now Aston Villa at the Etihad on Sunday. Will it be hard for City to beat Steve Gerrad’s men and lift the trophy in front of their fans? It is doable and this is what makes their fate to be in their hands.

It won’t be a surprise to see Liverpool defeat Aston Villa and finish off well against Wolves at Anfield on Sunday.

Manchester is poised to win the trophy and Liverpool can think of quadruple another season.
