Report any of my officials that ask for bribe, Tinubu tells Qatari investors

President Bola Tinubu has urged Qatari investors to promptly report any government official soliciting bribes or any form of inducement during their business activities, assuring them of direct access to the President’s Office.

Furthermore, President Tinubu assured the international business community of Nigeria’s readiness for serious business, affirming his administration’s commitment to decisively address any entrenched interests undermining investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, stated that the President pledged to eliminate all obstacles hindering profitable and legitimate enterprise.

This statement was made during the Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum in Doha, where President Tinubu informed Qatari investors about the ongoing reforms and upgrades within Africa’s largest economy and its systems.

The President emphasised that the fight against corruption and insecurity in Nigeria had been significantly bolstered by the appointment of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Ribadu, as National Security Adviser (NSA).

“We have a man who has won many global awards for anti-corruption as an anti-corruption czar.

“My responsibility is to tell you that Nigeria is open for business, and to assure you that your investments are safe in our hands. We have men and women of great reputation here. And we believe we can forge a good committee that will advance our discussions to fruitful conclusions.

“A nation is an artificial entity unless there are good people to drive it. People build great nations and we have great people. We are ready,” the President affirmed.

The President also highlighted Nigeria’s abundant opportunities across various sectors, stating to his host, “We possess oil, gas, solid minerals, and there’s no reason why we cannot become significant partners in exploring iron ore, steel production, and energy.”Ā 

“I’m here to provide assurances across the board: tourism, hospitality, healthcare, and numerous other opportunities available to us. Don’t miss out on the golden opportunity we’re presenting,” added the President.

Welcoming the Nigerian delegation in the presence of Qatari industry leaders, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, expressed his country’s anticipation of exploring opportunities in Nigeria. He emphasized Nigeria’s demographic advantage and market potential, as Qatar aims to prioritize investments in low-carbon initiatives, mineral products, petroleum chemicals, industry, and consumables.

“We anticipate collaborating with our Nigerian counterparts to accomplish our mutual objectives in these sectors,” stated the Minister.
