Bayern trio Kane, Olise, Díaz rack up century of goals to set remarkable record

Bayern Munich’s attacking trio of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz have etched their names into Champions League history. For the first time in the competition’s existence, three Bayern players have each been directly involved in 10 or more goals in a single campaign.

The milestone came during Tuesday’s 5-4 semi-final first-leg defeat at Paris Saint-Germain. Kane scored his 12th goal of the Champions League season from the penalty spot. Olise provided his eighth assist, taking his total goal involvements to 10. Díaz added his fifth goal of the tournament. All three now sit in double figures for contributions.

Kane leads the way with 12 goals and three assists. Olise has two goals and eight assists. Díaz has five goals and five assists. The combined tally of 35 goal involvements from three players is unmatched by any other club in this season’s competition.

The feat is rare. No Bayern player had reached 10 goal involvements in a Champions League campaign since Robert Lewandowski in 2020/21. To have three in the same season is unprecedented.

Aside the European competition…

Kane, Olise and Díaz have scored a combined 100 goals for Bayern across all competitions this season. Kane has 54, Olise 20, and Díaz 26. The 54-goal mark for the England captain is already his highest single-season tally in club football.

What makes the statistic remarkable is its exclusivity. Barcelona’s MSN (Messi, Suárez, Neymar) and Real Madrid’s BBC (Benzema, Bale, Cristiano) have achieved 100 combined goals in a season. No other attacking trio from outside those two Spanish giants has done it. Until now.

Bayern’s trio has also broken club records. Their 35 Champions League goal involvements are the most by any Bayern attacking unit in a single season, surpassing the 2019/20 group of Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller.

Manager Vincent Kompany has given his front three freedom to interchange. The result is a fluid attack that has terrorised Bundesliga defences and now European ones. The semifinal second leg against PSG on May 6 will determine whether their historic season ends in Munich or at the final in Budapest.

For now, Kane, Olise and Díaz have done something no Bayern trio has ever done. And they have done it with 100 goals and counting.
