He stated that he has never told a lie against anyone in the course of his advocacy. He added that whatever he has said about someone or an institution is true.

This comes after he made some comments about Afe Babalola in his book, which resulted in his arrest.

The activist is facing a 14-count charge of alleged defamation. The police accused him of ā€œcriminally defamingā€ Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Afe Babalola in his book, ā€˜Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.ā€™

Farotimi pleaded not guilty to all charges.

In a separate case before the Federal High Court in Ekiti, Farotimi faces 12 additional charges related to cybercrime, filed by the Inspector-General of Police.

He was previously granted ā‚¦50 million bail in that case, with one surety.
