Former President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his congratulations to President Bola Tinubu on reaching the midpoint of his tenure, calling on Nigerians to rally behind the administration as it continues with its reform agenda.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, to mark Tinubu’s two years in office, Buhari acknowledged the occasion as both a moment for celebration and a reminder of the ongoing demands of leadership.
“As the party and the government celebrate, the country should be reminded that leadership is a continuous journey,” the former president said.
Buhari emphasized the importance of continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, noting that the positive effects of the current reforms will unfold over time.
“Reforms would achieve success gradually, not overnight,” he said.
He further cautioned that the government’s efforts must not be disrupted by “nettlesome domestic politics,” urging a collective sense of responsibility across all sectors of society.

Addressing the nation’s economic challenges, Buhari expressed concern over the impact of inflation and poverty on the most vulnerable Nigerians. He stressed the need for joint action beyond government intervention.
“The task of reducing poverty and inflation, which is immense, mustn’t be left only for the government. The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” Buhari said.
Encouraging Nigerians to remain positive about the country’s trajectory, he added: “Nigerians must remain optimistic and stay confident about the country’s future.”
Concluding his remarks, Buhari offered his best wishes to Tinubu, saying, “Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy. I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care.”
