Tinubu appoints Ismael Ahmed as chairman of PCNGi

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).

The appointment was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Ahmed will lead the operations of the presidential scheme aimed at providing affordable, cleaner energy alternatives to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

The PCNGi is a key part of the Tinubu administration’s palliative intervention programme designed to ease the economic burden on Nigerians by promoting the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as a cost-effective substitute for petrol.

Ahmed, 45, is a graduate of the University of Abuja, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2005.

He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 after completing his studies at the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.

He later proceeded to Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, where he earned a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy in 2008.

Ahmed previously served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022.
