Nigeria forward Akor Adams has been granted compassionate leave from camp after his mother was hospitalised.
The striker left the Super Eagles camp to be at her side, with the team and supporters sending prayers and heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery.
Adams has been outstanding at AFCON 2025, brilliantly scoring Nigeria’s fourth goal in the 4-0 win over Mozambique. He also created the opener for Ademola Lookman in that commanding round-of-16 performance. Indeed, the forward has been key to Nigeria’s perfect run so far.

The 25-year-old, who has impressed since moving from Montpellier to Sevilla, has become an important attacking figure in this campaign.
His work rate and efficiency have helped drive confidence within the camp, while his teammates rally behind him now with unity and care.
Nigeria look ahead to Saturday’s crucial quarter-final against Algeria, hopeful Adams returns in good spirits and good time. The north African side beat DR Congo 1-0 in extra time on Tuesday evening to set up the last eight clash with the Super Eagles.
