The Confederation of African Football has approved a last-minute venue change for Nigeria’s upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Senegal. Nigeria Football Federation Director of Competitions Ruth David confirmed the decision. February’s first-leg match will now occur at Abeokuta’s MKO Abiola Sports Complex.
It relocates from Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. David cited the Ibadan pitch’s deteriorating condition as the cause. That same venue hosted Nigeria’s second-round victory over Rwanda. The Falconets must now relocate their training base to Abeokuta.
This third-round qualifier is crucial for World Cup hopes. Nigeria advanced by defeating Rwanda 5-0 on aggregate. Senegal secured its place with a 6-0 aggregate win over Algeria. The upcoming tie’s winner progresses to Africa’s final qualifying round. It then faces either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi.

Coach Moses Aduku is preparing the squad under this altered logistical plan. The MKO Abiola Complex itself recently underwent renovations. It has a seated capacity of approximately 10,000 spectators. The stadium is meant for international fixtures.
