The Nigerian movie, Gangs of Lagos has continued to receive positive feedback from pundits since it’s debut on Good Friday, April 7.

The blockbuster movie directed by leading Nigerian director, Jade Osiberu has sent tongues wagging following it’s release. Specifically, netizens cannot help but talk about the creativity ad boundaries the Gangs of Lagos storyline has been able to shatter.

The crime drama, the first Amazon Original film from Africa, follows three friends chasing their dreams and destiny on the dangerous streets of Isale Eko. Tobi Bakre takes the lead as Obalola, supported by Adesua Etomi-Wellington (Gift) and Chike-Ezekpeazu Osebuka (Ify).

The film is co-produced by Jade Osiberu and Kemi Lala Akindoju.

Other high-profile casts include Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Ademoye, Zlatan Ibile, Iyabo Ojo and Tayo Faniran.

With these three leading the cast, the movie takes us into a relatable, layered crime world of corruption, drug dealing, protection rackets, human trafficking, theft, and murder.

The storyline of the new Nollywood movie has been described as unique and assessable; according to netizens they are able to relate.

Most pundits and social media commentators claim that the storyline is close to home and touches on sensitive issues that is ongoing in Lagos state. Speaking further, some used the recently concluded 2023 general elections as a case study.

Additionally, some other pundits mentioned that it would be near impossible for another Nollywood movie to surpass the opulence of the newly released Gangs of Lagos.

The dialogues, the storyline, theme, action and everything encompassing has been described as impeccable.
