Moses Simon nominated for CAF award

Moses Simon is the only Nigerian player nominated for the 2021/22 CAF Menā€™s Player of the Year award.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder made 30 appearances last term for Nantes, scoring 6 goals and creating 8 assists.

Osimhen missed out on African footballer of the year nomination

The most notable absentee from the CAF list is Napoli hitman and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen who scored 14 goals and created 2 assists in 2021/22 Italian Serie A season.

Moses Simon will be up against eight current Premier League players including Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez, as well as numerous other stars plying their trade around the world.

It is the first time the award will be presented since 2019 due to Covid-19 pandemic, with recent Bayern Munich acquisition, Sadio Mane the current holder of the prestigious award.
