Sharon Adeleke, sister to Afrobeats star Davido, has stated that the singer played a major role in introducing a more luxurious and flamboyant lifestyle into Nigeriaโs music scene.
She made the remark during Davidoโs Apple Radio live takeover, which featured family and close associates celebrating his 15-year journey in the music industry.
โI think that David is one of the people that started all this being flashy and showing off and making it cool, in Nigeria,โ she said.
Davido also reflected on the evolution of the music culture, drawing comparisons with the American entertainment scene.

Sharon insisted: โYou brought that. Nobody used to do that.โ
The singer has, however, consistently acknowledged the influence of the defunct Mo’ Hits Records, which was spearheaded by Don Jazzy and D’banj.

In earlier interviews, Davido recounted how his passion for music was shaped by the MoโHits crew, including a period he spent at their residence after leaving home against his fatherโs wishes to pursue a music career.
