Even professional writers sometimes beat themselves up when the writing is not going as desired. Here are 5 tips (in order of importance) that will help writing become a stress free, even enjoyable endeavour.

1. Prepare your mind

The first and foremost thing to do when preparing to write anything is to have the right attitude. Have the determination and will to write before sitting at the desk. Without preparation, even the slightest bit of hesitation affects the quality of the work.

2. Get rid of distractions

It is a well-known fact that writers do well in quiet, serene environments. Distractions must be gotten rid of. These distractions may be cellphones, noisy environments, chaotic mind, etc. Switch off devices to avoid looking for them when in need of an escape. Similarly, in  the case of a chaotic mind, meditation has been known to help.

3. Get in touch with nature

Nature allows a personā€™s imaginations to soar subconsciously. The effect usually happens gradually. So if the writing isnā€™t going so well, take a walk, admire the trees, watch the birds and feel the breeze.

4. Read

Reading exposes one to realities outside of their own. It helps especially with the outpouring of words. So when stuck, pick up a book, a magazine or read an article online. You just might find the next word.

5. Do not pressure yourself

As with most things in life, so is writing. Steady and not quick steps does the trick. One should write as though one is writing for oneself. Without the pressure of trying to impress the audience, writing becomes a fun experience.
