Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has revealed that international allies, including the United States and France, are actively supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to dismantle networks of foreign actors fuelling insecurity across the country.
Mrs Tinubu disclosed this on Saturday during her first official visit to Ekiti State, where she met members of the State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.
Addressing the royal fathers on the Federal Government’s counter-terrorism efforts, the she described the nation’s security situation as troubling.
She attributed a large share of the unrest to foreign elements infiltrating the country and confirmed that several global powers had strengthened Nigeria’s military and intelligence operations.

“Most of the people causing this unrest are non-Nigerians,” Mrs Tinubu said.
“Not that security issues do not exist in Nigeria. I cannot say too much because some information is highly classified.

However, I can assure you that America, for instance, is helping, France is also helping, alongside some other developed countries.”
She assured the council that President Bola Tinubu’s administration continued to work relentlessly to tackle insecurity, insisting that Nigeria remained “too great to be intimidated.”
She also urged citizens, especially women, to remain prayerful and resilient.
During the visit, Mrs Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), unveiled major economic and educational support programmes aimed at easing financial hardship in the state.

She distributed a ₦100 million Business Recapitalisation Grant to 2,000 women petty traders, with each beneficiary receiving ₦50,000 to support their businesses.
After commissioning a Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-sponsored ICT Experience Centre, she announced a ₦200 million reward package for the two best graduating students, one male and one female, of Ekiti State University (EKSU).

The interventions added to previous RHI programmes in the state, including educational bursaries, the distribution of 10,000 sanitary pads to schoolgirls, and specialised scholarships extending to PhD level.
The visit also took on a political tone ahead of the forthcoming Ekiti governorship election.
Accompanied by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the First Lady openly canvassed support for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
Standing alongside the governor’s wife, Olayemi Oyebanji, the delegation urged residents to return Oyebanji to office next month, describing his re-election as a crucial step towards securing Tinubu’s second-term bid in the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, welcomed the First Lady and appealed to the Presidency to intensify security efforts across the region following recent kidnapping incidents in Ekiti and neighbouring communities.
