Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed deep concern over the growing tribal and religious divisions in the country, describing the situation as “depressing.”
Falz shared his thoughts while reacting to a post by fellow entertainer, Nasboi, who urged Nigerians to unite beyond tribal and religious lines and hold political leaders accountable.
Nasboi had written, “We’ve really kept quiet in this country. Reminiscing stories like ‘snake swallowing money.’ These politicians really take us for granted, busy stealing money they cannot finish on earth. It’s time to put our tribes and religions aside. Put this country first.”

In response, Falz said the continued manipulation of Nigerians through tribal and religious sentiments has been distressing to watch.
“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point we need to start thinking for ourselves,” he wrote.
His comments come amid heated online debates between some Christian and Muslim youths following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning to take military action against Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians by Islamic extremists.
Falz, known for his activism and social commentary, once again called on citizens to unite and resist divisive tactics used by political elites to maintain power.
