Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has emerged the first Nigerian and first Napoli player to make the top 10 of the Ballon d’Or rankings.
The 23-year-old is the highest ranked African player in the 2023 Ballon d’Or list as he is listed number 8.
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva and Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modric are ranked 9th and 10th respectively.

Last season, Osimhen became the first African to emerge top scorer in the Italian Serie A. He led Napoli to their first league title since 1990 (33 years).
Before tonight, the highest a Nigerian has ever ranked is 11th ā Kanu Nwankwo in 1996.
With his 8th place finish tonight, Victor Osimhen enters history books.
