Popular Nigerian media personality, Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, has criticised members of the National Assembly over their silence concerning the recent wave of killings in Benue State.

In a post shared via Instagram on Monday, Bobrisky questioned the priorities of Nigerian lawmakers, noting that while they were quick to deliberate on his legal issues, they have failed to address the ongoing violence that has claimed many lives in Benue.

He wrote, “Senator/House representative didn’t call urgent meeting over the killing happening in Benue.

Bobrisky was convicted in 2024 by a Federal High Court following charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for abusing the Nigerian currency.

Although he was found guilty, reports later emerged suggesting he did not serve time in prison, a development that sparked public outrage and questions about the justice system.

Meanwhile, calls for a state of emergency in Benue have intensified on social media after suspected herders allegedly killed about 200 people during a two-day onslaught.

Many Nigerians have taken to various platforms to demand urgent government action, pointing out the contrast between the silence over the Benue massacre and the swift moves that led to the suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the declaration of a state of emergency in that state in March 2025.
