Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is facing a devastating start to the year after a series of personal tragedies, latest being his mum’s demise.
The Chippa United shot-stopper, who received news of his father’s passing last November, is now mourning his mother. His father’s death occurred during his participation in the AFCON qualifiers, just after a game against Benin Republic.
Sadly, Nwabali announced on his social media platform on Wednesday that he has also lost his beloved mother. Sharing his grief with fans, the goalkeeper described the current year as the worst of his life so far.

In a heartfelt post on his X account, Nwabali wrote, “RIP mom, worst year of my life already 😢💔.”
Nwabali has been a crucial figure for the Super Eagles, securing his place as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. However, the recent losses have cast a shadow over what has otherwise been an impressive career for the talented Chippa United shot-stopper.
Despite the heartbreak, fans and teammates have rallied around the goalkeeper, offering their condolences and support during this difficult time.
As the Super Eagles prepare for future challenges, the team stands united with Nwabali, sharing in his grief and offering encouragement.
