Morayo will be title of Wizkid’s forthcoming studio album.
The album, Morayo is inspired by his late mother, Jane Dolapo who passed away in 2023.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Wizkid whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun spoke indepthly about the coming album.

“I’ve named it my mum’s name,” he says – his mother’s name being ‘Morayo’, a Yoruba word that means ‘I see joy’.
“It’s very important for people to know where the source of my magic comes from. I’m African, I’m Nigerian; that’s my blood, that’s my DNA. So, it’s important for me to push [Yoruba] out there – let people know about my culture. I like to know about everyone else’s culture, their way of life, and this is mine.”
Further, Wizkid during the session mentioned the new project is quite personal to him.
“It’s very, very personal,” he reveals. “I hope it lifts spirits and spreads positive energy.”
Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, who is known professionally as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Born in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid is a voice in the emerging Afrobeats movement. His music is a blend of Afrobeats, afropop, R&B, afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, and pop.
