Popular Nigerian skit maker and livestreamer, Carter Efe, has become the subject of widespread online debate following opposing narratives surrounding the breakdown of his relationship with his baby mama, Emmanuella, amid allegations ranging from domestic violence to emotional control and opportunism.
The controversy surfaced after Carter announced on Instagram and X that he and Emmanuella had been separated for more than a year. He portrayed the period as one of emotional strain, financial difficulty, and stalled creativity, claiming the relationship negatively affected both his personal life and career.
According to him, Emmanuella allegedly blocked him for five months and only reconnected after his recent success as a Twitch streamer, where he gained increased visibility through collaborations with international creators, including American rapper and streamer DDG. Carter said his current achievements came after enduring a prolonged and difficult separation.
In a series of emotional Instagram Story posts, the content creator accused Emmanuella of derailing his life and professional growth.
“This lady has frustrated my whole life to the extent I trend everyday for beating a lady For good two years I lost everything. I lost my mindset, I cannot think or shoot content, I got broke,” he wrote.

He also claimed he was denied access to his child for several months and stated that distancing himself from Emmanuella helped him regain emotional balance.
“These days you guys noticed I’ve been happy and active. It’s because I was able to move away since. I’m aggressively active. God is good,” he added.
Carter further alleged that Emmanuella returned only after his career gained traction, describing her actions as opportunistic. He recounted difficult moments, including living in a single room with his team before being evicted, while crediting faith and persistence for his eventual success.
However, his version of events was disputed by influencer JoJo of Lele, who accused Carter of repeatedly abusing Emmanuella and claimed she was forced out of their home on several occasions during the relationship.
The situation intensified after activist and social media influencer VeryDarkMan shared videos showing Emmanuella appearing visibly distressed, with swollen eyes. In addressing the issue, VeryDarkMan said he had previously accused Carter of physical abuse.
“I called him a woman beater… I specifically said he beats his wife,” VeryDarkMan wrote, urging Emmanuella to speak out.
The videos triggered heated discussions online, with some users attributing her appearance to emotional distress, while others viewed the footage as evidence supporting abuse allegations. Carter Efe has not directly responded to the videos.
Amid the backlash, Emmanuella posted a video on Instagram on Monday, countering Carter’s claims and presenting her own account of the relationship. She said they had been together just days before his public statements and accused him of distorting the truth.
“We were literally together three days ago… we have a baby together, and for you to cater for your child, I have to come to you before you can give me money, even though you say we aren’t together anymore,” she said.
She also accused Carter of controlling her personal and professional life, alleging that he prevented her from working or pursuing acting and deliberately isolated her from her support system.
“He blocked all my female friends because he knows I would confide in them… he made sure I kept my family away,” she alleged.
Emmanuella further claimed that Carter threatened her before making his social media posts.
“He called me this morning and told me he was about to post something calling me a prostitute and that he would make sure I don’t ever post myself again,” she said, adding that he claimed ownership of her social media platform.
The allegations and counter-allegations have continued to fuel intense reactions across social media, with many calling for clarity and accountability as the situation unfolds.
