In about 2014, the podcast boom started up, and at that moment, it was an audio-only form. In todayās climate, many of the podcasters you love are starting to release videos of their recordings. You can view this content on your mobile phone or cast it on your television and see it just like a show. Here are four free options.
Use the YouTube TV App
Many podcasters are now on YouTube channels. Included among these are immensely popular podcasts like Call Her Daddy and Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, along with less well-known podcasts that are attempting to establish recognition.
If your most-liked podcast presents itself on YouTube, you are fortunate indeed. This is a simple route to getting their material on a bigger display.
- Download the YouTube app on your smart TV. You can also plug in an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku, Chromecast, or other streaming device into your TV and download the app.
- Go to the navigation menu on the left side of the screen and select “sign in.”
- Search for the podcast channel by name in the search bar, then click play on an episode to start watching.
Stream Patreon content on your TV
A portion of podcasters distribute video material on Patreon for those listeners who are willing to pay more for supplemental content. These videos are usually only accessible to paying subscribers on platforms other than YouTube, so the makers choose to exclude their content from it.
On several platforms, video podcasts are made available by Patreon. The location where you can cast will differ based on the mobile device you use to reach the Patreon app.
- Android: Chromecast, as well as cast-enabled devices such as Sony and Samsung TVs, and Roku TV
- iPhone & iPad: Apple TV, Airplay, and Roku devices.
As Patreon lacks a smart TV app, you must resort to using your mobile phone or tablet to cast its content to one of the TVs or streaming devices I have listed above.
You can kick off watching the video on your Patreon app with Airplay. Next, swipe down from the right corner to bring up your control panel and click on the Airplay icon to stream it to your attached Apple TV.

Alternatively, you could use the Apple screen mirroring feature to share the entire screen, not just the video.
Several users have reported downloading Patreon videos to their devices and hosting them on their Plex server. Once the video is saved there, you’ll be able to view it from your Plex app on a Smart TV.
Tap into Spotify on TV
Lots of smart TVs and streaming devices have a Spotify app, including the Amazon Fire TV Stick. If your streaming device has the app ā just download it and get started.
If you can’t get the Spotify app directly on your device for some reason, you may still be able to connect on a larger screen.
- Open Spotify on your phone, tablet, or computer and start playing the video podcast.
- Tap the speaker icon on the bottom of your screen and choose a device to connect to.
- Give permission, if asked, for Spotify to connect with your TV or streaming device.
