Mmesoma Ejikeme, a 19-year-old candidate who took part in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has issued an apology to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for her involvement in result forgery.

During an investigative hearing conducted by the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee, led by Sada Soli, she read her apology letter to address the matter.

The candidate humbly requested that the imposed ban be lifted and appealed for leniency. ā€œI feel a debt of pain for letting you down,ā€ she said.

ā€œI had already admitted that what I did was wrong. Based on that, I hereby presented to you all, my letter of apology. I humbly seek your forgiveness for the mistakes I have made and the pain I have caused.”

ā€œI deeply and sincerely agree that I ignorantly got my JAMB result from another portal which was not a JAMB portal. I apologise for all the apportioned blame and all the pain I have caused.ā€

However, during his speech, the JAMB registrar emphasized that Mmesoma was directly involved in a deliberate conspiracy with others to forge the examination result.

He further disclosed that JAMB had taken action against more than eight UTME centers that were caught engaging in infractions related to result manipulation. As a consequence, these centers have been shut down.
