As long as the world exists, new movies will continue to find their way onto our screens. The exciting, thrilling, mind-blowing ones await us in June. The sixth month of 2024 is expected to host some blockbuster movies that is expected to shake the box office. Check out the list of anticipated movies of June so that you can mark your calendars.

1. June 7- Bad Boys For Life: Ride or Die

Who is ready the Bad Boys’ juice? It’s been four years since we had the Bad Boys’ duo, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence on our screens. The fourth sequel of the Bad Boys’ franchise is expected to be released on June 7 in selected theatres. Preceding this are Bad Boys (1995), Bad Boys II, Bad Boys for Life (2020) and they all stormed the movie world when then came in. In fact, Bad Boys for Life was one of highest grossing movie of 2020.

The movie trailer has got us all pumped up for the movie and it is no doubt that the $100 million dollars’ movie will do well in Box Office just like its predecessors. Apart the Bad Boys’ duo, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, actors like Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig will be featuring in the movie. Mark the date on your calendar!

2. June 7- The Watchers

Where are the fans of horror? Then, ‘The Watchers’ should be on your list of June 2024 movies. Warner Bros. got something for you this month. This supernatural horror movie directed by Ishana Night Schyamalan should be your pick for this month. You can sense the eeeriness and spookiness all from the trailer. The movie is based on a book by A .M Shine of the same title.

3. June 13- Bridgerton Season 3, Part 2

” Who needs fresh air when there is fresh gossip?” , in Lady Danbury’s voice. The Bridgerton fans have something to talk about for the rest of the month. We have heard them rattle on about the carriage scene in the first part of the season. I am sure they have high expectations for more steamy scenes.

Personally, I did not indulge myself in watching the first part because I want to consume the whole season at once. I try my best to stay away from spoilers and all. After all, the patient dog eats the fattest bone. I am sure there are folks like me.

It though seems like in this part Penelope has no choice than to reveal to Colin that she is Lady Whistledown. That secret is the plot’s exploration in part 2. I am sure we feminists do not agree with Portia Featheringthon when she said, “women do not have dreams. They have husbands’. However, we will want to know the full gist when it gets released June 13, 2024 on Netflix.

4. June 14- Inside Out 2

‘Inside Out 2’ is a sequel to ‘Inside Out’ (2015). The animation comedy was produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Studios. The director, Kesley Mann who produced the first sequel is also in on this one. The movie would be released in theatres on June 14,2024.

The movie should do well in Box Office because its predecessor was the 7th highest grossing movie of 2015. From the trailer, we can see the conceptualisation of emotions into characters. That is a good one.

5. June 27- Kalki 2898 AD

This movie is about to be the most expensive Indian movie ever with $75 million dollars production budget. ‘Kalki 2898 AD ‘ is an epic action film written and directed by Nag Ashwin. The movie will be released in theatres on June 27, 2024.

6. June 28- Despicable Me 4

“Illumination!!!” Who is ready for some Gru’s goodness and minions gibberish talk? I am. So long, Despicable Me, we had the last one in 2017. Though the Gru character has been featuring in other Gru themed animation, which are about six now, but this is the fourth one in the Despicable Me franchise. The Illumination -produced movie is distributed by Universal Pictures Production and it set to be released in Nigeria by June 28, 2024.

Gru (Carell), the world’s favourite supervillain-turned-Anti-Villain League-agent, returns for an exciting, bold new era of Minions mayhem, alongside his wife and fellow Anti-Villain League-agent Lucy (Wiig), their three adopted girls — Margo (Cosgrove), Edith (Gaier) and Agnes (Polan) — and the sixth and newest member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. 7. June 28- A Quiet Place: Day One

The “Quiet Place” gets a third sequel and it is looking good meeting the fans expectations. The other sequels were set days after the aliens’ invasion but this takes us to the background of the story. From the past sequels, we know that this movie will be horror in its sci-fi nature.

This sequel also witnesses the introduction of new characters like film stars Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff. Michael Sarnoski directed this movie and also doubles as the screenplay writer alongside John Krasinki. The distribution of the movie would be by Paramount Pictures and would be available in theatres in the United States by June 28,2024.

8. June 28- Horizon: An American Saga

Although this movie has been viewed in 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2024, it is still expected to be released in theatres by June 28, 2024. It still counts as one of the June 2024 movies.

‘ ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ is a four-part American epic Western film co-written with Jon Baird, and produced by, directed by and starring Kevin Costner ‘- Wikipedia. The sequel to this is already produced and set to be released on August 26, 2024. It already has a IMDb rating of 7.8/10 so I am guessing the movie is a blockbuster.
