OEQA commences induction training for newly deployed officers

The Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) has commenced a four-day induction training for newly deployed officers.

The training programme, which began on Monday at Ikeja Senior High School, GRA, Ikeja aimed at equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills required to carry out their duties effectively.

The training programme is designed to familiarise the new officers with the structure, operations, and core responsibilities of the agency.

Addressing the participants, OEQA’s Coordinating Director, Remi Abdul, emphasised the importance of quality assurance in education, stating that the induction was a critical component of the agency’s technical framework.

“When OEQA was established, our officers went through a comprehensive seven-day training conducted by expatriates. At both federal and state levels, quality assurance officers are not deployed without adequate training,” Abdul noted.

He urged the participants to take the training seriously, adding that mastery of their responsibilities was essential to their performance.

He also warned that disciplinary action would be taken against officers who fall short of expected standards.

The training featured presentations from heads of the agency’s core departments, including Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS); Quality Assurance; Private Education and Special Programmes (PESP); and Monitoring and Investigation.

Also present was the Coordinating Director of Education District 1, Femi Ejiwunmi, who delivered a session on the structure and operations of the six education district offices across the state.

Earlier, Mojisola Bamgbose, Director of Administration and Human Resources, administered a pre-course test and provided a general overview of OEQA’s mandate and operations.

The induction training is expected to strengthen the capacity of the new officers and enhance the agency’s efforts to promote and maintain quality education across Lagos State.
