Where did your money go? – Wale Adenuga addresses claims by Papa Ajasco actor on financial struggles

Nigerian film producer Wale Adenuga has reacted to the controversy following claims made by actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, known for playing Papa Ajasco, about his financial struggles.

The reaction comes days after Ayoyinka’s interview gained attention online, where he spoke about difficulties despite years in the entertainment industry.

In a detailed statement, Adenuga said he was surprised by the claims and decided to speak to correct what he described as wrong impressions circulating among the public.

He maintained that there has been no serious conflict between him and the actor, adding that their relationship has remained cordial over the years.

The producer explained that Ayoyinka worked for decades as a civil servant with the Lagos State Government before retiring not long ago.

He noted that during those years, the actor combined his government job with acting roles, often requiring official permission before appearing on set.

Addressing claims about hardship, Adenuga stated that Ayoyinka had benefited from several opportunities over time, including the use of multiple vehicles and support within the production circle.

He also said, to his knowledge, the actor owns a house in Ogun State.

On the issue of brand restrictions, Adenuga clarified that the name “Papa Ajasco” is a protected brand owned by his company, Wale Adenuga Productions.

He explained that the restriction is meant to guide how the character is used publicly, not to block the actor from earning income.

According to him, the actor is free to take up advert jobs and other roles once proper approval is obtained.

He further stated that actors in Papa Ajasco & Company are only on set for a few weeks in a year, leaving them with enough time to pursue other personal projects and acting opportunities.

He added that several cast members have continued to feature in different productions under their own names without issues.

Adenuga also dismissed claims that his company neglects or exploits actors, insisting that the organization pays according to industry standards and meets its financial obligations as required.

The producer concluded by thanking the public for their concern while urging people to rely on accurate information as the discussion around the veteran actor continues to unfold.
