Arsenal delivered another commanding Champions League performance with a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich, tightening their grip at the top of the 36-team standings.
The win preserved their flawless European campaign and showcased the ruthless efficiency driving their early-season momentum. Emirates Stadium roared from start to finish as Mikel Arteta’s side outclassed one of Europe’s fiercest opponents.
Jurrien Timber opened the scoring with a towering header from a well-rehearsed corner routine. Bayern responded quickly with an equaliser, yet Arsenal refused to lose control of the contest.
Their pressure eventually told in the second half when substitutes changed the game entirely. Noni Madueke restored the lead after fellow substitute Riccardo Calafiori delivered a delightful pinpoint cross.
Moments later, Gabriel Martinelli—introduced late—sealed the result with a composed finish past Manuel Neuer after a brilliant threaded pass from Eberechi Eze.
Speaking afterwards, Arteta expressed pride in far more than the goals. “Probably the desire, the attitude, the consistency in every action,” he said with satisfaction. “How the team and the individual are connected constantly, the purpose, the aggression… against a team that is constantly man-to-man.”
He praised his players’ resilience, adding: “Psychologically and mentally it’s very difficult… you win some duels, you lose others, and you have to go into the next action. I think they dealt with that part incredibly well.”

Arteta hails squad depth as substitutes transform the game again
Arteta applauded the influence of his bench, noting how quickly they reshaped the rhythm. “We bring people in because Leo had to come off and Noni is ahead of schedule… he’s ready to come and score his first goal,” he said.
“Martinelli comes in, Richy comes in… the first action he puts the ball in and creates an assist.”
He continued: “Everybody’s so willing. They want it so badly and you can sense that.” The boss also credited the supporters, insisting their energy carried over from the weekend derby.
“They were unbelievable… the energy stayed in the stadium for two days.”
With Arsenal six points clear in the Premier League and three points clear in Europe, Arteta allowed himself a brief smile. “I will,” he said when asked if he would sleep well. “But tomorrow morning I will wake up and let’s go to Chelsea.”
