Lagos govt mandates hospitality businesses to obtain LASPA, LASTMA approvals

The Lagos State Government has issued a directive requiring all hospitality businesses, including hotels, event centres, and nightclubs, to obtain approvals from both the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

This was disclosed in a joint statement signed by the General Manager of LASPA, Adebisi Adelabu, and the General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare-Oki Olalekan.

The measure is intended to curb indiscriminate parking and traffic congestion caused by these establishments.

They warned that non-compliance with the new regulations would lead to prosecution under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws 2018.

The collaboration between LASPA, which handles parking management, and LASTMA, responsible for traffic management, aims to ensure smoother and safer roads across the state.

The directive follows previous warnings and enforcement actions by the state government against venues that obstruct public roads for private use.
