Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has inaugurated the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, as the 13th Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers.
Governor Oyebanji praised Oba Alagbado as a respected and experienced monarch with a strong track record of promoting peace and development.
He expressed confidence that the new chairman would provide effective leadership for the council, which is composed of 86 royal fathers, including 66 permanent and 20 rotational members.
The council’s mandate is to advise the government on a range of issues, from cultural preservation to customary laws and grassroots governance.
During the ceremony, Oyebanji also used the opportunity to announce his intention to seek re-election.
He stated that a second term would allow him to consolidate his administration’s achievements and continue the state’s development.

The governor called on the traditional rulers for their prayers, guidance, and support, promising that his commitment to transparent and inclusive governance would remain steadfast.
The Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Olaiya Atibioke, highlighted the governor’s commitment to the welfare of traditional rulers, citing a significant increase in their allowances and a special monthly package to help mitigate economic hardship.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Alagbado expressed his gratitude for the appointment, describing it as a “sacred responsibility.”
He pledged to lead with humility, fairness, and a commitment to the unity of the traditional institution.
He assured the governor of the royal fathers’ support for his re-election bid, noting that his first-term performance had demonstrated his commitment to the state’s development.
