It was heartbreak for Nigeria at the Olympics as medal hopeful Tobi Amusan narrowly missed out on the final of the women’s 100m hurdles. Amusan finished 9th overall after clocking 12.55s in her semifinal heat.
Despite placing 3rd in her heat, Amusan’s journey to a second consecutive Olympic final has been cut short in the Olympics women’s 110m hurdles semi-finals which was closely ran, with only 0.01 seconds separating the top two finishers.

There was more disappointment for Nigeria in the men’s 4×400-meter relay when the quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene and Chidi Okezie were disqualified by the referee at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday for impeding a South African athlete following a changeover.
Botswana who were the bronze medallists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finished first in their heat and overall, with a top time of 2:57.76. They’ll be joined by Great Britain, the United States, Japan, France, Belgium, Zambia, Italy and South Africa.
