Lagos State government partners with Gitex on technology advancements 


The Lagos State government has announced a partnership with Gitex in a bid to attract more potential investors to the state shores. 

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said he met with the leaders and organizers of the Gitex Africa Technology summit to increase the focus and investment in new technology advancements.

Sanwo-Olu via his Facebook page said he had a discussion with the United Arab Emirates Minister for Artificial Intelligence (A.I) on its development with a focus on Africa.

He maintained that the UAE Minister expressed willingness to drive AI partnerships with Lagos to foster beneficial frameworks.

“Artificial intelligence (AI) is taking the technology space to a different level of advancement. It is redefining how people think, act, and access data in a seamless way,” Sanwo-Olu added. 

The governor reiterated his commitment to continuously investing in the technology ecosystem of Lagos, as well as allowing the sector to leverage the enabling environment and platform created for investors and businesses.

“In a bid to attract more potential investors into our shores, I met with the leaders and organizers of the Gitex Africa Technology summit. Our partnership would ultimately see us increasing the focus and investment in new technology advancements.

“At the GITEX Africa technology showcase, I met with the UAE minister for Artificial Intelligence. Our discussion focused on A.I Development with a focus on Africa. The minister expressed his willingness to drive A.I partnerships with Lagos to foster beneficial A.I frameworks.

“At the GITEX Africa Digital Summit in Marrakech Morocco, I met with a number of technology startups sponsored by our administration to present their value creating solutions to a global audience. 

“These startups are solving problems across sectors, and what GITEX gives them is an opportunity to pitch for investments and secure potential partnerships for their continued expansion. 

“I am glad to say that the Lagos Startup contingent were a significant segment of the conference.

“We will continuously invest in the technology ecosystem of Lagos, and give the sector the opportunity to leverage on the enabling environment and platform we have created for investors and businesses, so they can in turn, promote the Lagos story to their global audience.”
